I have a thing for reflections. Looking at stuff from the other side, seeing stuff inside out, bounced back at you all mixed up. Two in one. This is Cahors market in June, a picture of summer for a dark autumn evening.

Sums it up really. Then again, when I got back to the car 10 minutes later, I found a parking ticket on my windscreen...

old pictures

There are some old pictures that never get used for anything. Sometimes they are even favourite shots for random reasons. A prime example is the croissant picture. It is not my kitchen or my croissant.

Went to see Imogen Heap on Sunday evening at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. She was great.

depth

Look, small depth of field. Which means you can read the spines of the three CDs pulled forward on the shelf, but not the slightly more embarrasing ones a whole inch further back. Thanks 50mm f1.8.

sharp

Like Tobias' claws when it comes to his favourite toy (a two year old piece of Christmas gift wrapping), the 50mm is quite sharp. Here is an early trial shot with it. Maybe more to come...

Having actually taken some pictures, it is now officially Concrete of Hull Week.

It is remarkable what you don't notice most days. Like this very large gate, slap in the middle of Hull city centre, featuring the simple but striking use of the word 'cheese'. I like it. So, what haven't you noticed today?
